I am a total newb with icecast, so try and bare with me. I just installed icecast last night, I've mostly used the default settings and I almost have it working. I'm running icecast 2.3.1 with an ices 0.4 source client. I am able to get the server running, but when I tried streaming from my roommates computer, the audio was really choppy. I tried streaming from the same computer that was running icecast with XMMS and it worked fine, but when I tried to stream with mpg321 or xine, it would skip again. I know when I was using winamp, it kept buffering the stream. The same thing appears to be happening when I was trying to stream with mpg321 and xine, even though everything is running on the same machine. I'm running on an AMD 1800+, so I don't see any reason why the hardware couldn't keep up. My best guess is that the buffer gets filled, then the listener client stops streaming, uses all of the buffer, and then pauses to fill the buffer up again.
I've looked through all of the settings and can't find anything that would explain why this is happening. I'd be happy to post any config or log files that could reveal the problem. Also, if it helps, I'm streaming the audio at 128Kbps. Thanks in advance. |
