I will be using the wimpy flash player for users who want to listen to my radio station. I have correctly configured winamp, icecast, OddcastV3 and lame_enc.dll on my windows XP machine. I can listen to my station and everything is great except that wimpy requires the url to be in a dot mp3 format opposed to dot m3u. I am extremely new to this stuff and haven't a clue as to changing this, i would assume that I would need to change/add some things in the icecast configuration file, i have messed around with it but havent had any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

m3u and mp3 are very different, m3u is a playlist format which (for icecast) contains the url for the ogg/mp3/etc stream. If your player wants a .mp3 link then by all means give it the url to the mountpoint instead of the m3u

Thanks you so much for your post, one step closer to my solution. Please forgive my ignorance, but how do i determine the dot mp3 mounting point for my stream? When looking at the web admin tool for icecast i see on the "list mountpoints" page my stream, it has a play button pointing to the m3u link followed by "mount point /listen." I am including my config file with the hopes that maybe it will give more detailed information on my setup, sorry for my ignorance, greatly appreciate you help.

The mountpoint is whatever your source client provides, if it's /listen then that is the mountpoint. For mp3 (due to historical reasons) you can get away without specifying an .mp3 extension.
