Hello.

I was under the impression that when fallback override is enabled, the following scenario (1) is followed.

Stream1 is the default (fallback) stream.

If a listener tries to listen to Stream2 and Stream2 is not connected, he is connected to Stream1.

If, while he is listening to Stream1, Stream2 connects and starts broadcasting, the lister will get moved to Stream2.

In reality, what I found that happens is this (scenario 2).

Stream1 is the default (fallback) stream.

If a listener tries to listen to Stream2 and Stream2 is not connected, he is connected to Stream1.

When a new source, StreamX, connects, regardless of it being Stream2 or not, the listener is transferred to StreamX.

My question is, when this feature was implemented, was it meant to follow scenario 1 or 2? After reading the documentation, my understanding was that scenario 1 should be followed.

Any clarifications or comments would be more than welcome.

TIA.

It sounds like you have a setup where streamX has a fallback override of stream1. If you have multiple mountpoints falling back to a single stream then the first override will take whoever is on the fallback.

If you want to isolate listeners based on which mountpoint they requested then add a local relay (on-demand is ok) of the fallback for each main mountpoint. Listeners will then fallback to the relay only. With this, the listeners are on seperate relays (override then works) but they get the same content.
