Hello,
I have two applications I'd like to implement and am wondering if I can do so on either Win Server 2000 or 2003 and which plugins to use.

The first is to stream the audio out of a PC to a Slim Devices SqueezeBox which can receive both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis streams. (i.e. just the sound card mix going to the speakers.) This would only stream on the LAN.

The second is to make individual MP3 files on a web site available to the public as a stream. (These are recorded songs from a summer camp.) I want this to be playable by anyone and wonder if the common players support Ogg, or only MP3.

I assume IceCast can do this, but don't know how best to set it up.

My questions then are:

- Can IceCast do this?

- Is IceCast preferable to the Windows Media streamer that comes with Windows Server 2000 and 2003?

- Which plugins should I use?

- Is there a good how-to for the above? I'm technical, but not experienced in streaming or *nix.

Thanks,
Ed
