Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi everybody,

I am trying to run my icecast2 server on port 1008. But for some reason it is not working... I keep getting the error "Could not create listener socket on port 1008" when launching icecast.

If i change to port 8000 it works. netstat does not show anything running on port 1008 though.

I am migrating from shoutcast to icecast2.
System: Debian Sarge, kernel 2.6.14, standard debian package icecast 2.2.0

update:
The interesting part is that shoutcast actually works on port 1008 ... did i miss something?

Answered this in IRC; for the record: on unix, to use ports < 1024, you must run a program as root.

The user was presumably running shoutcast as root, but not icecast.
