Hi,
when using Media Player Classic to listen to my foobar2000 -> oddcast -> icecast stream the first second of the stream is repeated all the time.
Using other clients it works fine.
Format doesn't work.
Any ideas? |

I presume this is an MP3 stream, if so does it also do the same thing from other servers, eg listed on dir.xiph.org. What versions of WMP and Icecast are being used and is the stream fixed bitrate ?

Happens with any stream format (MP3, AAC, OGG).
WMP version is 10, but I doubt that matters as WMP isn't involved here. Music player is foobar2000, sending music to icecast using the oddcast v3 dsp plugin.
Also happens with other streams (tested http://stream.radioreal.hu:9000/live , couldn't find another working one) |

can you be more clear with your posts, you said initially "when using Media Player Classic to listen to my ... stream" and that other clients didn't have a problem, yet now you say that Media player is not involved. Maybe you need to first verify that a stream is being sent to icecast as expected, ie does at least one player playback the stream.
Also don't forget that WMP may not be able to read ogg and aac streams (depends on what codecs are installed).

I'm using Media Player Classic (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/) which is something completly different than Windows Media Player.
All codecs are installed and it works properly using other players.
This is NOT a codec problem but either a bug in Icecast/Oddcast or Media Player Classic |

ok, never heard of that player, but if other players work then that would indicate that there is some issue in the parsing of the stream. icecast doesn't do anything different based on player (except flash).
Check if a burst-size of 0 works, some players have been known to have problems with a fast burst at the beginning but no information has come back to us on that. Failing that you'll have to pass the info onto the player developers.

Setting it to 0 doesn't help, but setting it to a high number, starting the stream in MPC and then closing Icecast makes MPC play a part of the stream (the one that was played between starting to listen and closing Icecast) |

Hi.
Have the same problem playing stream with flash in IE. Sometimes part of stream loops. This problem appears only for flash in IE. No problem with standalone mp3 players or flash in FireFox. Can't say for sure, if there are some problems in connection between:
- <source> -> icecast
- icecast -> clients
but clients use broadband connection, so there should be no problems. |
