I'm using IceCast to broadcast Thai songs - which have Thai title
and the title that is displayed in IceCast is somehow alien language.

Thai language uses TIS-620 character set. Is it possible to configure (I went through Makefile but found nothing - maybe i'm stupid Very Happy) IceCast to use TIS-620 character set?

Icecast uses unicode for everything. That can't and won't change.

I think (but I'm only guessing) the actual problem you're having is a source client sending metadata in the TIS-620 character set, rather than in unicode (UTF-8).

That's a bug in your source client. We can't guess what source client you're using.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, could you explain?

If you can give a clear example of a real use-case that you need that can't be handled using unicode, but which would work with real-world clients without modification, I'd be very interested.

Hey! Point me to almost one player over the world with UNICODE charset support in broadcast stream?

Smile Smile Smile

WinAmp, Windows Media Player, iTunes don't support this!
and Icecast is poorly supports this thing too!
I'm russian broadcaster and want standart Win CP1251 charset in icecast2.
Today's ive got only errors in xml stats files generated by icecast2 such as this

error : xmlEncodeEntitiesReentrant : char out of range
encoding error : output conversion failed due to conv error, bytes 0xE5 0xF0 0xE0 0xF2
I/O error : encoder error

after using russian stream names... Sad
