linux used to have a seperate pid for each thread so I'm guessing that is what you are seeing.

Updated my Linux Kernel from 2.4 to 2.6 and now I only see the 1 PID
icecast2 31982 0.0 0.1 6072 1332 pts/0 S+ 22:44 0:00 icecast -c
