Hello there,

we have a small problem on how to install and configure Icecast.
This is it:
we installed icecast (and darkice;lame) from Synaptic. On all the Howtos it tells us to work in the configure.xml file but the problem is that there is a big X infront of the folder and permission is denied, even loggin' in as Root in the terminal.

Plus, does anybody know how or where to access the Kerry Cox documentation that is visible on the docs page but not accessible anymore?

Which docs are you following?, distribution based packages can be awkward to check as some enforce starting as root for instance. Don't forget the xml can be located anywhere.

well, regarding the docs, i mean the documentation on icecast.org, where it is also possible to find the official documentation page.

on a specific one on the web, it tell me that after install I get i

icecast installation created
/usr/local/bin/icecast (executable)
/usr/local/etc/icecast.xml (configuration file)
/usr/local/share/icecast (http client)
/usr/local/share/doc/icecast (documentation in html format)


looking for the icecast.xml, I find the folder but that is where I don't get access. And anyway, trying the installation on the terminal, it gives me all sorts of errors. shall I post the terminal process with what it says?
(for example, there are many nos or "can' find"... )

As said, I access as root, but it will give access denied all the same.
So do you mean root on my PC or as a new user on icecast?
