Hello, I am trying to compile ices 0.4 for streaming, but I get the error that there is no usable libshout. I opened up the config.log and found this:
Code:

configure:20768: /usr/bin/pkg-config couldn't find libshout. Try adjusting PKG_CONFIG_PATH.
configure:20774: checking for shout-config
configure:20805: result: no
configure:21103: error: Could not find a usable libshout

So I did a updatedb then locate for libshout and shout-config. Libshout found
Code:
/usr/lib/libshout.so.3
/usr/lib/libshout.so.3.2.0
/usr/share/doc/libshout-2.2.2
/usr/share/doc/libshout-2.2.2/COPYING
/usr/share/doc/libshout-2.2.2/NEWS
/usr/share/doc/libshout-2.2.2/README

But shout-config found nothing. So I decide to remove libshout using yum, and compile libshout myself. Upon doing this, I have a similar problem as above, saying it cannot find libvorbis or libogg. So for now I used yum to reinstall libshout until I have a need to compile it manually.

I suspect that the libraries are not being found properly, so I run lndconfig real quick, and try again, but the same problem occurs. I don't understand ldconfig very well, or why all this is occuring. Ideas?

heh, forum searches suck, did some googling and found this topic right here in the forums, just a few topics down.

I wish everything was this simple. I decided to look at what was available for install, and I saw a libshout-devel package. So I typed yum install libshout-devel, and it grabbed 5 other packages, all of which were needed for ices. At that point, I decided to try to compile, and it worked flawlessly :3
