I've gotten ices2 to get its input by reading the output of my soundcard (which is driven from mpd). Everything works fine, but I want the metadata to be updated regularly as mpd plays different songs.

I've can easily update the data file referenced in the "metadatafilename" tag, but it never gets read by my player client, so the name on the display never gets changed.

How can I force the update to this metadata with a "live" stream? Does the client have to request an update, or can the server do it too?

Thanks!

You have to send the USR1 signal to ices2 before it rereads the metadata file.

That did it!

I added the code "pkill -USR ices2" to my python script, and it works great.

Thanks!
