Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi, I'm just experimenting in starting my own online radio station. Im using the Icecast server as my stream. I've set it all up, and ive tried it out, and when I type http://192.168.0.2:8000/live.m3u on my mum's laptop (whos on my LAN) it works fine...obviously I cant use 192.168.0.2 for the outside world, becuase its an internal IP, so I've gone onto whatismyip.com and thats told me that my IP is 90.200.1**.***, anyway, when I try to use that like: http://90.200.1**.***:8000/live.m3u it can't connect!

I've logged into my router, and changed the settings to allow port forwarding of ports 8000 and 8001. But it still dosent work! In my router settings it says:
MAC Address 00:14:6C:AB:**:**
IP Address 90.200.1**.***
Network Type PPPoA
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address 87.87.2**.**
Domain Name Server 87.86.1**.**

Ive tried the http://192.168.0.2:8000/live.m3u URL with the given IP Address, Gateway IP Address and Domain Name Server....and it still dosent connect!

I'm having the exact same problem. Found a guy here that's having the same problem too.

Anyone have any answers? Seems to be a pretty big problem....

Yes, I've opened the port on my router and forwarded it to my computer IP. I've set the host on the icecast config file to localhost and my modem IP, neither works for external connection. Both work for internal connection. Matter of fact, I can make the host name in the icecast config file anything I want and it still seems to work internally...

You need to ask your network administrator to check that the external packets are getting to icecast, tools such as tcpdump or wireshark are sufficient to trace what is actually happening. Most likely the router isn't forwarding if other machines on the LAN are working without problem. BTW you'll only need to forward both ports for source clients not listeners.
