Hello to all here. Im new in the forum. I have a online radio with Icecast 2.3.1 server and ices-0.4 running on FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE, and have the problem with the real time encoding to 128kbps, ices crashes with this error -
kernel: pid 13533 (ices), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped).
Thats ok, i turnoff the real time encoding and convert all of my music in 128kbps /44kHz. Before i upload them again on my radio, i listen them , and the sounds is nice , i mean with no noise and etc.... . Here is the shity part of my problem. Today i listen the radio and the fcuking scratching noise come. What i do - restart ices (same problem), restart icecast and ices - its ok for now. I thinking that the problem might be come from lame , and install the new version of lame-3.97.
So , my question is - can the server cause this scratchy noise or its from ices or lame ?
Hope you can understand my english and thanks in advance for your answers. |

icecast will not change the quality of the encoding, that is purely an issue with the source client if that is responsible for the encoding.

thx for answer Karl!
but still have problems with that . When i get file from my radio , on my computer haven't noises, but when i hear it online the noise is show!
here is some line from mine configuration file for ices -
<Playlist>
<!-- Stream bitrate, used to specify bitrate if reencoding, otherwise
just used for display on YP and on the server. Try to keep it
accurate -->
<Bitrate>128</Bitrate>
<!-- If this is set to 1, and ices is compiled with liblame support,
ices will reencode the stream on the fly to the stream bitrate. -->
<Reencode>0</Reencode>
<!-- Number of channels to reencode to, 1 for mono or 2 for stereo -->
<!-- Sampe rate to reencode to in Hz. Leave out for LAME's best choice
<Samplerate>44100</Samplerate>
-->
<Channels>2</Channels>
</Stream>
</ices:Configuration> |
