Hello all,
Once upon a time I tried setting up my apartment so that, running xmms on one system, I could use icecast to have that music play on the speakers of PCs in other different rooms.
The problem I ran into was that the icecast stream, being intended for use over the internet, wasn't very good at synchronization, so there was a lot of lag between rooms. My question is whether this has changed in more recent versions of icecast. Alternately, can anyone recommend something that would be more appropriate? Basically I want to be able to start playing music in my office and then tell my client to connect to listening daemons on PCs in, say, the living room and bedroom to play the same music in there. I want to treat the bedroom and living room PCs like IP-enabled speakers.
Any help on this would be appreciated. |
