Icecast Streaming Media Server

Is there any difference for listeners if source is SHOUTcast- or Icecast-native? I mean if I'm listening to stream from http://ip:port/stream.aac or http://ip:port/stream - will it be different for my player (except from .aac extension)?

Generally, for listeners no. Small differences may be noticed though, like the mountpoint reference or that the initial burst is typically much smaller, oh and the fact that icecast can do ogg streams.
