hello
i try to install/configure darkice on my fresh pcbsd.org (freebsd 6.2) installation to create a nice source-computer.
but i don't get it right, because i don't know enough about the whole sound-architecture.
as far i have following configuration:
pcbsd (os)
oss (sound-architecture)
darkice should work with oss, but what device do i have to use?
when i use /dev/dsp it can't open, what seems normal to me because oss uses it.
i looked into the /dev and saw there is /dev/oss/trident0 which is my soundcard driver but when i try to use this there is this message:

i have this in my config:

the /dev/dsp referenced is a common reference but an installation does not require the device to be called that. I can't help much with darkice but you could try using a 48khz samplerate.

maybe my device is reserved... hmm.
i tried to stop oss, but it's still not working.
i tried with 48khz but it didn't work out.
also i tried with the following:

hmm.. how could i get my card configured that it is not reserved?
i already tried with jack but .. no this crashes my whole system... yes.
maybe i go to a linux installation which runs on an other desktop correctly
there i use oddsockv3 and jack.....

..maybe one time i will be able to get the sound running well and streaming from a *bsd system....
but for now i went back to linux, with oddcastv3.
