Hi
It would be nice if you could create another file to log only incoming connections, to be more organized or if you can create a flag in LogLevel to block logging of all the events but the incoming connections
ex:
I ussually have this:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [17/Nov/2007:00:43:57 -0300] "GET /images/corner_topleft.jpg HTTP/1.0" 200 8238 "http://10.10.10.10:8888/adminbar.html" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Avant Browser; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)" 0
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [17/Nov/2007:00:43:57 -0300] "GET /images/icecast.png HTTP/1.0" 200 5161 "http://10.10.10.10:8888/adminbar.html" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Avant Browser; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)" 0
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [17/Nov/2007:00:43:58 -0300] "GET /images/corner_topright.jpg HTTP/1.0" 200 8240 "http://10.10.10.10:8888/adminbar.html" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Avant Browser; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)" 1
And I would like it to show only this:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - - [21/Nov/2007:02:57:09 -0300] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 10675355 "-" "WinampMPEG/5.32" 4717
Thank You |

Those are still incoming connections, exactly how would you determine when to log it or not?

I think what savemenico means is that if there is any chance to create a flag for the loglevel so that it would show only the successful connections to the mountpoints, that way we know who was actually listening, since the access.log currently shows all incoming connections and sometimes thats bothersome when it comes to locate a particular listener in the log file.
or at least be able to make a separate archive that shows the successful connections to the mountpoints so that we can cross-check that archive without losing the incoming events from the access.log |

I personally don't have an issue with adding a flag for limiting the logging, but it needs to clear on what should and should not be logged. For instance, if this flag only logs clients on streams then does that also include source clients and definitely not files served off webroot and what about /admin access.
My initial suggestion would be (default log everything) with flag enabled, log everything except webroot access. I don't think anyone has discussed this on the mailing list so feel free to post on there to get feedback.
