|
|
What we want to do is have a 20 second video <intro> for a radio station ogg stream under icecast, and we want them both played seamlessly with a web-based theora/ogg player.
Any ideas?
Otherwise we are stuck with flash and windows media and you know how bad that sucks!
Thanks!

icecast itself should have no problem with this. What I'm not sure about is how good the web applets are, if they are done as per spec then the video intro and then an ogg stream should be fine.

Well, OK, I set up an transcoded audio ogg stream, and used the quicktime plugs to make a 20 second intro video. What happens is that the intro video only partially plays. The first 400 ms or so is lost and then it cuts to the audio stream with about 3 seconds left of the video to play.
The player is the cortado web player applet.
The point at which the video cuts out seems to be sensitive to the actual size of the video file.
What seems to be happening is that the audio is somehow overwriting the video in the player, but I am not sure of that. I know intro files are not timed when they are sent out.
Am I missing a magic incantation?
Thanks!

can you try this with another player like vlc, mplayer or real/helix player to see the effect for comparison. My initial suspicion is the cortado applet.

| Do the parameters of the intro's audio and the audio stream have to be identical as they do with an mp-3 intro? |

I would say that you should keep them the same, again it doesn't matter to icecast as that will detect the change but the listening player may have problems doing things like changing samplerate or channels of the soundcard.

Yeah, its the applet. It starts playing the whole clip once the buffer is full but as soon as the audio stream starts it abandons the buffered video.
It worked as expected in VLC.
I'll fix that eventually, but for now I'll make a flash/cortado hybrid player box. The boss wants everything yesterday as they all do.
I'll post here when I have a patch for that player, and send it to the developers as well. |
