|

Dear Forum,
I just set up an Icecast 2.3 on a Suse Linux 9.3, using Ices 0.4 - I am amazed by the software, big thanks, and it streams my test stream just fine (I use listener authentication).
Now, I have two problems with Icecast.
The first is a minor one but it might be connected to the second one:
My statistics show
- client_connections 1045
- clients 2
- connections 1047
- file_connections 697
- listener_connections 17
And the problem is, they are always growing. Every time I refresh the number of client connections increases by 10 (which is ok, I assume it's the web browser requesting files) BUT it never decreases. How can that be? Shouldn't it fall back?
The second problem is that even though my server has a 100Mbit connection and nothing is running except icecast and my test client has a 2Mbit connection and nothing is running except iTunes, the stream pauses at random intervals, something for so long that iTunes drops it. This one is deadly for me, as I am trying a setup for a commercial environment and just *need* 100% reliable stream playback.
If you have any advice I would be endlessly grateful.
If you need any additional information, do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks in advance and
Best Regards
Andreas |

Hello
I may not be able to give you a solution but i have the same problem with my OSX Installation.
It seems to be a specific problem on my computer because other Mac Users don't have this breaks, and it must be related to icecast because other radiostations seems to work (nether a network problem).
Even when i tried to connect with VLC the interruptions appears i suggest to change some codecs, maybe this can solve the problem.
Check your stream with a PC as well.

If there are stalls in the playback then I would make sure that the source client is not stalling first. Does the stall happen at track change?.
wrt the stats, some stats (*connections) accumulate so they will never decrease.
