Hi guys,
at first i want to mention im completly new in the world of linx and u just attent a practical training in an company where i have to solve this exercise:
set up an streamingserver with icecast2 and ices2
music files in .ogg from an folder on the hdd
thats the beginning. well i allready installed icecast2 + ices2 via aptitude and installation worked sofar.
i changed passwords in config files and it seem to be quite fine. i accessed from a different pc (windows xp) on the ip by using TCP port 8000 and i had the standard web page provided by icecast2 but there was nothing like "click to listen ->" etc ...
i was able to login with my admin account and the pw set in the config.
for that i followed a guide i found via google but still...
i'd be very happy about help of guys like u who know what they're doing
greetings

What you have described is acceptable but something is wrong. My first guess would be to stop and start both processes so that the xml files are reread which is something that you haven't specified. You can check your own log files to see what is being done by icecast.
