|
|
I currently use Nicecast, but my question concerns the icecast backend.
In the web based control of icecast, I can kill source, etc. However, icecast reconnects after I kill source.
Right now I have it set as Source: System Audio, as I switch between iTunes and some other sound apps.
Is there a way to switch to a different source via the web, or just pause the broadcast all together?
I realize this is a grey area between the 2 apps, and nicecast has thrown it in your court when I inquired
Moreover, is there more personalization I can do with the icecast backend, or does the nicecast front end kill the ability to do that?
Thanks! |

a reconnecting source could be because it's an icecast relay or because the source client is immediately reconnecting back to icecast. I'm unsure what the situation is with regard to nicecast. You can check the icecast xml or error log to get an idea.
If nicecast acts as a source client then it will be initiating the connection, so that would need stopping if you wanted to change it.
If it's a case of you wanting to stream from nicecast by default and connect up another stream on occasion then use the fallback mechanism with nicecast on the fallback-mount. Changes to the xml via the web interface may get implemented later but will probably require an ssl connection for added security.
Any of the xsl pages can be personalized, we just provide a simple set which many people stick to.
