hello,

it would be totally awesome to have the same <savefile> option in icecast that ices-kh has. means: that icecast can split dump files after a given time or when metadatas change and name the files accordingly (with date, time in the file name).

this feature would be very useful to build archives directly on the streaming server, automatically generate podcast episodes of radio shows ..

i'm not enough into the icecast code that i could do it myself, therefore i give this suggestion.

thanks

I know this is a quite old topic, but I agree with kap's request, this is a functionality our radio station is looking for since quite some time.
We don't want to change our broadcasting system to anything else but icecast2, only this "automatic dump file rotation" is missing.

Is there any chance on getting this into icecast? Or maybe is there allready some workaround available?

Just asking Smile

The current way of implementing this is to use a separate client like curl/wget to generate the split files. but it should be possible to implement that within icecast without too much trouble. I'll have a look at what needs to be done.
