Icecast Streaming Media Server

I want to use icecast to broadcast short sound files around my internal network to indicate various infrequent real-time events in our application, and I'm wondering what the best source client would be for this.

I have been experimenting with ezstream in stdin mode wrapped inside a perl script, and the problem I have is that after each short sound file finishes playing, the clients think the stream is over. For example, winamp says "End of Playback."

Is there a way to configure ezstream to keep the stream open and publish silence on the stream between incoming stdin data? Or, is there a better source client I should examine for this application? I'm using pre-recorded ogg files, and the only requirement is that it has to be linux friendly.

Use a fallback file on the stream, an empty file should suffice.
