Hi

I'm new to music streaming and I'm trying to setup live streaming from my computer. I've configured the icecast server and ices, but for some reason it doesn't look like anything is coming through.

I used putty to see what was going on. I originally was going through windows firewall and a router, but I took them out of the equation and tried hook up stright to the cable modem.

Code:

If you are asking why ices is not sending any content then you need to check the logs for ices.

thank you for the quick reply. I looked around and couldn't find any logs. Sorry to ask such a dumb question, but where can I find these logs?

By the way I'm using ezstream

here is my config file:

Code:
<ezstream>
    <url>http://prepzoneboards.naplesnews.com:8000/preps.mp3</url>
    <sourcepassword>*</sourcepassword>
    <format>MP3</format>
    <filename>stdin</filename>
    <!-- Once done streaming playlist.m3u, exit: -->
    <stream_once>1</stream_once>
    <!--
      The following settings are used to describe your stream to the server.
      It's up to you to make sure that the bitrate/samplerate/channels
      information matches up with your input stream files. Note that
      <svrinfoquality /> only applies to Ogg Vorbis streams.
     -->
    <svrinfoname>SWFL Prepzone</svrinfoname>
    <svrinfourl>http://prepzone.naplesnews.com</svrinfourl>
    <svrinfogenre>Highschool Preps</svrinfogenre>
    <svrinfodescription>SWFL Prepzone shoutcast, powered by Naples Daily News</svrinfodescription>
    <svrinfobitrate>128</svrinfobitrate>
    <svrinfochannels>2</svrinfochannels>
    <svrinfosamplerate>44100</svrinfosamplerate>
    <!--
      Prohibit the server to advertise the stream on a public YP directory:
     -->
    <svrinfopublic>0</svrinfopublic>
</ezstream>

ok, if it's ezstream instead of ices then you should find out what ezstream is doing. It can report what actions it is doing but essentially it should indicate what it is doing. I'm guessing the stdin means that the content is been fed into ezstrream.

yeah stdin will stream from standard input instead of streaming from a playlist

so I scrapped ezstream all together and went with M3w. No command lines and no coding setting it up was a breeze. its a great app for streaming and suggest anyone with my problems go ahead and try that app out!

it can be found here:
