Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to get our station listed on shoutcast without using the shoutcast streaming software?
Thanks. |

Not with icecast. Unlike us, AOL/nullsoft bans servers not running with their server software.

Hi Karl,
Thanks for getting back to me.
So I guess I'm left with thinking about installing shoutcast and relaying the stream from icecast to shoutcast? |

Hi HDTV,
Yeah, if we do want to be listed on Shoutcast, then my current thinking is to relay the stream from Icecast to Steamcast and use Steamcast's Shoutcast listing ability. |

When this came up before, the answer was always that AOL/Nullsoft will ban streams listing with non-shoutcast software. AFAIK that policy has not changed although that fact that no one may of rechecked the streams in a while may mean that some non-shoutcast software will list. Technically the process can be done with icecast but what is the point in coding something up to list on their directory when their policy would be to ban those streams.
We have our own directory and a specification for a stream directory for anyone to implement their own version.
