Hi everyone!
I've just heard of icecast on a di.fm forum... downloaded the server but cant really understand what to do.
To stream my radio, I am using shoutcast + winamp plugin.
I start the shoutcast pgm, i launch the winamp plug in, they see eachother, good.
But I dont get exactly how to do the same with icecast....
Server is equal to shoutcast server ... right?
But what application can send the sound to that server ?
Can winamp do it?
I read somewhere that a client ( coz its a client that is doing that work right? In my actual case winamp + plugin ? ) can even send whatever sound goes through the soundcard.
Where can I DL it if it does exist for windows?
Basically... could u give me a URL where there is a step by step explanation about how to put your radio online?
Sorry im not used to developers stuff... I went through the config txt file ( not very user friendly but easy to understand ) but didnt get how to do...
Thanks to help a beginner that want to stream ogg (cause it needs less bandwidth for same quality and im a home user so its just for friends but I've got only 40 ko up )

you can use the shoutcast winamp plugin if you configure icecast to use the 2 ports that it expects, there is an example shoutcast xml provided to give you an idea of what is required for the setup. Alternatively you can use the oddcast plugin (www.oddsock.org) to send to icecast natively. The latter will enable the streaming of Ogg Vorbis.
