Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi there, I just found out about Icecast yesterday. I got it set up and running on Windows XP, and as far as I can tell, it's working. My questions are this though.

I've managed to get myself listed on the Icecast Directory twice, and in fact now I am not streaming anything, (haven't for a about 4 hours maybe), and I'm still listed on there. One of them has been on there for almost 24 hours now. How do I remove them or will the server eventually remove them?

My final question is that I am using Winamp and Edcast to broadcast music. I was wondering if I set Edcast to steam music using the AAC+ encoder, will people be able to tune in? I see AAC+ listed on the directory, so I know it must be possible. but I don't know what they are using to broadcast using AAC+. If it will work using Edcast, I'll stick with that. So it seems that aac+ works, but i still have not figured out how to remove my other broadcasts that are not vaild anymore from the directory...

I was also wondering here, perhaps icecast does not do what I think it does. I was using peercast before this, but the yellowpages is down and has been for about a week and a half now, so i figured I'd try this. I found out about icecast through wikipedia while looking for other software that relays the audio I am playing.

If icecast doesn't do what I think it does, then this obviously won't work for me, but what I thought icecast did was relay my broadcast to another listener, and once they are listening to it, they then become the broadcaster and relay what they are hearing (and now playing) to another user who connects to my steam, and so and so on, is this not possible with icecast? If it is, I'm not having any luck setting this up. In the docs section for the v2.3.2 under relaying it has 2 types listed, master-slave, and single broadcast. I picked single broadcast and this seem the most appropriate from what i am reading. I copy and pasted the example and made the nessessary changes, but i continue to get errors in the error log. i'll go through this one section at a time.

- does my ip address go here or do i use localhost?

- i'm assuming i use the same port as the one icecast is set up for?

<mount>/example.ogg</mount>
- i've put in /mymountpoint name in here

<local-mount>/different.ogg</local-mount>
- do i need this? if i leave it as is or change it to what i have it set as in edcast or something completely different, it says it does not exist.

<relay-shoutcast-metadata>0</relay-shoutcast-metadata>
- i've left this at 0

you can have a set of icecasts relaying to one another to give a cluster of possible addresses for listeners to connect to. These can be done in either single relay or as a slave icecast.

For the relays section, the details are not that difficult.. server is the up or name of the server where the stream is to be relayed from, as with port. mount is the remote mountpoint to get stream data from, local-mount is the mountpoint to use on this icecast (default is the same as specified in mount).
