So little information to go. If the problem is that there is a timeout then it will be down to firewall or routing, If you get an actual error message then something is responding, if you get the status page then you know that it is icecast.

Hardcastle;

Are you port forwarding through your router?

Do you have an exception in your firewall to allow users to connect to that port?

It is very clear from reading your posts that this is begin blocked by a router (no port forward) and/or a software firewall on your PC.

You are providing absolutely no information as to what you have done.

How do you expect people to help you without more info?

EDIT - I can install and configure Icecast for you to your specifications, for a fee. Just send me a PM.

am having similar problem.
am using winamp and edcast set similar to above, tried ogg vorbis and lame coding,
and going thru shoutcast for now till i get details of icecast server stream from friends.
i certainly am connecting to server and it shows titles of tunes etc but
any media player i use gives silence when listening in/monitoring from shoutcast ( i wish to settle this for when i begin to use actual icecast server.
you are asking the above person for further details, well which kind of details will you need?
ty, ed

The main thing to do is properly describe what is and what is not working. To rule out most networking issues, just make sure you can get the status page from icecast, any browser will suffice for that.

Gnowave, in your case, if you are actually getting content but it's silence then check your source client, the typical reason is capture settings on the mixer are not set correctly. Watch for mountpoint extensions, some players rely on them for decoder selection.

Hardcastle, likewise, make sure the browser can get the status page, if it cannot than source client is unlikely to work. If that is ok then check the icecast log files, even failed attempts will show up.
