Hello.

I'm using ices2 2.0.1 on FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE.

At the moment I'm broadcasting a single stream using /dev/dsp for input.

What I would like to do is broadcast on different mountpoints playing different mp3 files on each mountpoint, i.e. using different playlists, without having to install a soundcard per stream.

Is this possible?

A few points to raise.

1. ices2 doesn't handle mp3 directly
2. if it's configured for reading from playlist then a soundcard is not needed.
3. you can run multiple ices2 processes.

Thanks for your reply.

I was mainly thinking along the lines of running one ices2 process with multiple playlist blocks which is cleaner but I'll try your approach as well.

Regards.

I compiled and configured ices0 (which should be able to stream MP3 files to an icecast2 server which in turn produces an OGG stream).

It appears to be connecting to the server without problems, it updates the metadata, I can see my stream on the icecast2 web GUI, I can see clients connecting/disconnecting, the listener count changing accordingly _but_ when I connect to it using WinAMP 5.093 it just says "Connecting..." and goes no further.

Any ideas? Config file available on request.

Thanks.

On trying that link, the initial thing that stands out is that it is not an Ogg stream, in fact it is an MP3 stream, so specifying an extension to the mountpoint of .ogg is going to confuse many players as they won't see any Ogg data. Try using say /Jester.mp3 instead for the mountpoint in your source client.
