i want to work wit max listeners redirect slave.

i can do it work on version kh8 but on on stable icecast 2.3.2

the version kh8 is the only one that i can use max listeners redirect slave.

The kh series is what that will work on, kh9 being the last released version. The mechanism isn't complete which is why the merge to trunk hasn't happened. I don't even know how many people are even using the feature, as not much feedback has occurred on it. But what is there does work reasonably well for load sharing.

to upgrade from kh8 to kh9 must i rm all folders and rebuild the new version ./configure -make -make install ?

as i understand from my tests i must use the same version on master-slave.
is this right ?
so if i upgrade the master to kh 9 i must do it to slave too ?

i have master slave on linux based systems.
Can i use the same version kh bout different o/s ?
for example master linux based kh8 slave windows based kh8 ?

there is no difference between kh8 and kh9 in this regard. If you mean, must to rm the source tree then no, you can pack elsewhere and rebuild there (with the usual configure.....make...) If you mean rm the installed files, then you can make uninstall or you can install over the existing installation. The issue to watch for is any changes you do locally like personal changes to xsl or xml files.

as a general rule I would say keep them the same version but very often, a release update does not change the protocol between them so you'll be ok with a kh9 master and kh8 slave. The question is whether the fixes in kh9 are useful for the slave. As some point I am wanting to change how the communication between them works but it should not clash with the existing mechanism.

There's no problem in mixing platforms between servers.
