Hi,
I've come across the <intro> config tag and am hoping that there is a config tag that does something similar.
As I understand it, the <intro> parameter specifies an audio file to play when a listener connects. Is there a paramter that can be set to specify an audio file to play when a source starts to stream to icecast?
Thanks in advance. |

Not from what you have described. What is the reasoning for it, I can only imagine that the only listeners that would receive it are on-demand relay listeners that kick off the relay. source client connections are supposed to be rare

Hi Karl,
Thanks for your quick reply
The way we use icecast is that there are a number of DJs that play their show from their homes/studios on our internet radio station, each has their own time slot at various times of the day and week.
This means that there is a source connection at the start of each DJ's show (about 2 hours each) and a source disconnection at the end of each DJ's show.
I was hoping for an intro on source connect becuase we have a requirement to play an advert at the begging of their show. What we are doing at the moment is asking each DJ to play the advert from their setup.
Thanks again.

would the following setup not suffice?
/stream is a relay of /dj where /dj has an intro. listeners connect on /stream and the source client connects on /dj.

hmmm, I'd need to change either the mountpoint that the DJs point to or the mountpoint that the listeners point to.
I've had another thought since and that is we have a bot that plays shows when there are no live DJs, I could make that play the advert before each show it plays.
Thanks for letting me know how to go about this.
