I have a big problem with icecast since a few weeks. Before that, all works great :-/

I have icecast 2.3.2 and ices running on my debian system. Icecast grabs a lot of CPU for only 50 - 500 users. The Load is the same in both times!

Cpu1  : 11.1%us,  0.0%sy,  0.0%ni, 56.2%id,  0.0%wa,  0.0%hi, 32.7%si,  0.0%st

If I shutdown iptables, the load goes down to 0 - 1 % for icecast and also for si (software interrupt).


Does anybody have a tip for me, where may the problem is. Or does anybody just had the same problem?

It's the first time I've heard of a load issue resolved by shutting down the firewall. Without knowing more about the specific issue it's hard to say but make sure you are on the latest kernel and try a post 2.3.2 icecast to make sure it's not an already fixed bug.
