We had about 1000 listeners at the time of this core. Actually, about 1000 would have tried to cnnect but this core came quite quickly after a restart.
Hopefully we can get this sorted out. This is on an amd64 FreeBSD-8.0-RC3. They did make some changes to their scheduler (ULE 3.0), I don't know if they are related at all.

There's a possible auth issue that may of triggered this assuming you are using auth. I've sent a pm to see how we can proceed on this.
