Hello Everybody,

I'm trying to set up icecast and ices.
Have installed both programs but when start icecast with:
/usr/local/bin/icecast -c /usr/local/etc/icecast.xml &
get the following message:
"could not create listener socket on port 8000"
I also tried using port 8001 but was the same error!
Any help?

Regards
Martin

something is already listening on that port, could be an already running icecast or some other server type app.

There isn't many reasons for the bind part to fail, check the netstat output for the ports you are trying to use (netstat -ntp).

running netsta is more or less the same as running "lsof -i tcp" and he claims nothing it on that port.

Perhaps there is some hardened kernel thing running preventing access to ports. Check the syslog.
