Google has just free the source code of VP8, and to expand it across the web, it would be grateful to have full VP8/Webm streaming support.
It would be possible? |

VP8 is only the video codec, it should be in some container that we can support. I haven't checked those myself but if the promise of the spec holds up then patches could be accepted.

I pray for WebM support in Icecast because it would serve a really important niche of webcasting.
I can't remember who said it but someone was working on a VP8 binding for Ogg.
IMHO that's not something Icecast should support.
The thing about WebM is that it's always the one container format (a subset of Matroska) + Vorbis + VP8.
Full details are at http://www.webmproject.org/
Now that we HAVE a free web standard, let's not complicate things by having a huge number of format combination, right? |

I've been busy with other things to get something written and no one else has sent patches so I'll try to get a look into it.
