| hello I am new to this. I just set up my server and everything is working, but when I tell friends to log on they get an error page message. When I type in the same location on my computer it works. Can you please help me with this problem. |

By error page message, you mean they tried to access the status page and it failed, ie http://xxxxxxxx:8000/status.xsl. If so then what was the message? If no connection is achieved then that is either because of firewalling or NAT or you're using bind-address incorrectly.

| I disconnect the firewall and it was the same thing. The URL you posted is the same message, but another computer on my home network works. |

If the connection works on the home network then it won't be the bind address setting, so it must be your routing/firewalling from external points. You need to understand your network, NAT/ port forwarding and firewalling.

I don't understand what I need to understand. How would I set it up to allow people to listen? How it should be set up? Let me know that and I'll see what I need to do and if I can fix it.
P.S I am looking to do online talk radio at nights. Do you think I can do it on my home computer or I will need more stuff? If you have any information about this please let me know? Thank you again. |

Access to home networks tends to be quite poor for streaming servers due to a limited upload limit, ie not many listeners. We obviously don't know your setup as you haven't said anything about it, but many have a NAT box in such a situation and the error as you have described it indicates that you haven't opened up the port and forwarded the connection to icecast.
