|
|
when I goto next song or let it reach the 2nd song the "Current Song" title doesn't display. Although the first song always works, all songs work if they go first so the metadata is there.
Is there a setting I am missing that updates song titles?
the first ogg that plays gets the current song and then never updates again atm |

see if it is a player issue, use ogg123 to see if the titles are updated. The comments should go through no problem but without some details it would be hard to say.

its ices2 server only not doing it, ices0.4 works fine
here's the log of a next song, where the first song played shows metadata artist/title fine but anything after doesnt update.
I'm using a playlist of 2 songs, both not displaying their title if put in 2nd of playlist. They have the same serial # but I disabled that code from im_playlist.c

I have tested going back to the original source code, that doesnt matter.
I think I saw the song titles updating yesterday and today they are not working hmm
Files:
./ices config.xml
config.xml
playlist.txt
logs/ices.log
is there anything in config.xml like enable metadata updates? |

no, metadata updates are in-stream and are completely different from ices0. I tried connecting to your server but it didn't switch to the next track so I have not been able to verify the problem. Check the icecast error log for track changes which you should see even if the comments are empty.

the tracks are changing when tuning in, but still not updating the songtitle. I dont see any errors or even warnings in the debug log
no entries are added to icecast error.log or playlist.log when going to the next track of ices2

thats the only thing I can see, and hear the song changing |

the icecast error log will report more info if you increase the level. Obviously a track change is not really a warning or error.
The odd bit in what you've posted so far is the
[2010-09-17 16:17:45] INFO signals/signal_hup_handler Flushing logs
That should not occur on a track change, only receiving a HUP signal should that be logged.

hey karl, i changed my 2 playlist songs to ones from vorbis.com and that worked correctly. So, must be something with vorbiscomment breaking those songs
I'm not sure what it is, but doing vorbiscomment -w file.ogg -t"TITLE=title" breaks the metadata from working
maybe there is a minimum requirement like you must have an ARTIST also? |

I doubt that, the tags can be anything you want. It may have something to do with the order on the command line
vorbiscomment -w -t ’ARTIST=No One You Know’ file.ogg newfile.ogg
you can always use the -l flag to verify the new comments.
