Hello
I haven't played with icecast for while so i am little rust.
I installed the icecast server and I am running with Oddcast.
Apparently everything is working fine. The Oddcast connects to the server, the server does recognize oddcast and even play back the link
http://localhost:8000/envivo.mp3.
But when I change "localhost" for the IP address, the windows player return with a message saying that wasn't able to connect to the server.
Also I can't log on the administrators stats page. the browser returns saying that wasn't able to find the page.
Finally the streaming directory doesn't recognize the radio as well
the link address to the server is suppose to be:
http://24.227.75.217:8000/envivo.mp3
Please can anyone help me please!
Thank you

localhost is 127.0.0.1, The ip you used will be an external address. Usually for people are behind a NAT box (eg addresses where 192.168.x.x. are used) the external address cannot be used internally as the router doesn't bounce the packets back in.
Check to see if you have a 192.168.x.x address and whether that works. In such case you will need to port forward external connections to the internal machine running icecast.

Rommell,
Don't go banging your head against the wall, I had the same problem. There was nothing wrong.
To echo what Karl said above, My Cable and Fiber ISPs would not let me "loop" back to myself using my external IP address. The best way to see if something is working is to have a friend of yours try it from an external location from your own. Even if you have a smart phone with a browser that is not on your network (not on your WiFi) can be a good tool to use to test with.
Don't forget to open your port (8000) on your firewall so the outside world can get in. Don't forget, you need your hardware and software firewall open.
Finally, try http://localhost:8000/status.xsl and see if you can use the administration link on that page.
Good luck! |
