|
|
I am using Nicecast 1.8.2, and I love the app and the icecast backend, great job!
However, I am dealing with only limited functionality within nicecast. Is it possible to install a newer version of Icecast and have nicecast work with it? i.e., killing a source without havign it reconnect, more indepth web control, etc.
I've asked around about this, nicecast support is great, but seems to chalk any web based icecast question up to "ask the developers",
Thoughts? |

"killing a source without havign it reconnect" sounds like the fallback functionality. Is that what you mean?

Thanks for the reply.
As I posted, asking Nicecast for some sugegstions has them suggesting I ask you. I'm well aware this is not a nicecast forum, but I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hardplace.
Within the nicecast web admin (which I believe is the icecast backend 2.2.0) there is a link to "kill source" http://youriphere:portnumberhere/admin/killsource.xsl?mount=/listen
And whuile this kills the source, icecast OR nicecast reconnects to the source after the initial killing of it. I do not know if this is a function of nicecast or icecast.
I was still curious if a newer version of icecast could be installed to increase functionality with nicecast.
I appreciate any and all suggestions, as this seems to fall in a grey area inbetween who to contact. |

The link you posted is an icecast link. But how easy would it be to use later features with nicecast I can't say. eg intro files were introduced but it's not clear on what nicecast does with the xml file. Any change you define in the icecast configuration could be overwritten by nicecast. That is the bit we don't know.
