Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hello everyone, I have been browsing the forum for few hours now, and I do not understand anything. Iam not if thats normal

If some one can help me i would really appreciate it.

What do i need?
a) I want to play a live talk, and want my listeners to listen to it.
b) The talk will be about 2-3 hours, a week .. not a lot of live action unlike others.

What do I have?
a) I have a server, but i dont think its a streaming server.
b) Windows xp running computer, and its not that bad.

Iam sure I sound like , "why is this person even attempting when they dont even know the basics"

I read the "unofficial how to" from the sticky in this forum and I understood some .. but not all.

What I request?
a) a step by step guide to install what ever is needed with a simple explanation that can help me set up.

any help, advice is realllllllly appreciated.

The first thing you need to note is that icecast isn't a complicated app to configure but you do need to know the basics and how they apply to your situation. Besides the icecast server, you need a source client to create the stream from whatever you use, which one depends on you.
