OK - I once wrote of this in the past - I have tested this over and over - I am running an IceCast server (latest version) and a Shoutcast server (latest version). I am connecting an AACPlus 40kbps stream to both. I can listen to the Shoutcast stream from any player - here is the list... VLC, Windows Media with the Orban plugin and WinAMP - the stream plays perfectly. However, if I play the IceCast stream in any of the three players - after about 5-10 minutes of audio - the stream begins to cut out and eventually stop playing all together.

Does ANYONE have any ideas on this? I had AACPlus running perfectly with an old version of IceCast - but moved on to the newest version and now I can't remember what version I was running that worked 100%.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Looking to implement numerous FM radio stations to IceCast for the multi mountpoint configuration.

Thanks!

Since AAC+ isn't really supported in icecast (it works, but only through the generic mechanisms, there's no explicit support), and we (the developers) don't have any licensed AAC+ source clients (or decoders) to test with, there isn't much we can do.

The most likely problem is with your source client; as I said, we can't test that to be sure.

For future reference: if you have actual bug reports, they must not go to this forum - we'll only act on bug reports reported at http://bugs.xiph.org/ (though in this case this isn't a bug report - this should have gone in the 'source clients' forum)

SimpleCast (www.spacialaudio.com) will be releasing a cheap AAC+ encoder - that would be best for your testing! For now - everyone that I know if is using Orban Opticodec. You guys should find a way to implement this into your server as, in my opinion, your server is much better than any we have used.

That rather misses the point. Icecast is free software. Our primary intent is to further the causes of free media - we concentrate on support, therefore, for free formats.

We're certainly not going to spend our own money to buy software just to add support for it to icecast! We don't make money from icecast at all.

OK - understood. If a company was willing to provide some R&D to get this completed - what would it run said company?
