Icecast Streaming Media Server

How would I set this up? I have a Shoutcast server which I pay for, and I recently came across Icecast.org. I stream programs "privately" for my donators. But someone is obviously leaking the stream. A simple 30 donator stream was set up, and I had 240 people on it by the time I stopped streaming.

One of my friends at MMA-TV sent me his "config" which I don't know what to do with, I dont know how to start! Ive uploaded everything in the "example" folder, the admin system (which is complicated enough). Set up the MYSQL database... and now what?

Im not the best with this sort of stuff, all I need to do is know how I can set this up so my stream URL from my server isnt viewable, and the reffering link requires a username and password.

from your description, you just need a htpasswd file to managed authenticated users connecting to your stream. You can use a separate sql server if you wish but it doesn't sound like a complicated system.

Note that the url will be user:pass@server:port/mountpoint, the pls and m3u is just a playlist, which can have that inside.

Is the /examples/ website the only thing I need uploaded to my website? I have it all uploaded with the mysql database set up, and now this config (I dont know where it goes!)

If you are willing to help me step-by-step I can proberly throw a fiver your way.

Ive edited my config.php with the mysql database stuff in it but I still get this on Mountpoints

icecast has nothing to do with a website. If you use url based authentication then it can talk to the website to confirm if a user should be allowed to connect but that is it. For a single relay stream using htpasswd, no mysql or web server is required.

Let me explain again. I stream from my own Shoutcast server. The streams are leakable at the moment. I want to set up a user and password database (htpasswd & myusers.txt) for them to connect to my stream.

How do I do this? Can I do it through my website so they dont see the direct stream link and only the refferal link in thier player? Someone told me to use the icecast authentication. I havent got a clue what to do, I downloaded it and uploaded it, he gave me a config file and said "Goodluck". If this hasnt got anything to do with it at all, im sorry. But if it is quite simple to do with a few scripts can you please tell me where I can get them.

Other sites ive used have it the same way...

I understand what you want to achieve but you must understand that the buildm3u link that you posted will not hide the stream link. That just gives you a playlist with the stream details in it. The only real way to limit access is to have authentication on the stream itself.

So basicly, I need a Icecast2 server not a shoutcast server, and this needs to be setup on my server, not my website?

A web server is different from a streaming server, if your service is only a web host company then you probably cannot run it. You could try to run the service yourself however upload rates are generally too low for running streams.

Set up every user of that 30 with their own passwords.
I'm not sure, but I wish Icecast will show users listening, and when you see same user listening multiple times, close that account because he is leaking.
