Hi there
I am using Traktor DJ Studio 2.6 and IceCast Server 2.3.0, recently installed on my new Windows XP system - I've used the exact same software combination last week before I assemled my new computer that I use now. The difference: Last week it worked. Now it doesn't
I can't quite locate the problem, so I figured somebody here could probably give me a clue or two. Actually, during the process of trying I have found out about several bad mistaked I made, but now I'm stuck, I can't think of anything else that might pose a problem. First, it was my ZoneAlarm firewall, which I forgot to configure, to let Traktor and IceCast have full server access. I also used ZA in this configuration on my working server system, but I always try deactivating ZA entirely, too, just to make sure. Then I found out that by deactivating ZA, the XP firewall automatically snapped into place, which wasn't like that on my old system (probably one of those great new Windows Updates). I now have to deactivate it manually every time, but it still doesn't work - hints on how to bust the Windows XP firewall for good are also quite welcome
I also configured my router correctly, opening port 8000 which is configured in ICs config file and Traktor config respectively, forwarding it to the computer on which IceCast resides.
Now, what does work? Interestingly, most of the stuff. When Traktor goes "on air", Icecast catches it as a source and says that everythings o.k. If I open my IP in my web browser, I get the status page, everything works fine. Even funnier, I'm listed at icecast.org's Server list, including the currently playing track, which is actually updated when I drop another track! And I even can fire up my own Winamp5 and connect to localhost:8000, and can listen to the stream.
In short: Everything is as it always was, but just nobody can connect to my stream. I don't think that the problem is the player of the listeners, because I have tested intensively with three independent people, each of them using Winamp 5. They all said that Winamp reported that the "connection was reset" while trying to connect to my IP.
I really don't know where to look further. Help me.... please?

| Update: After last reboot, it got EVEN funnier!! Now the IceCast status window insists on having 0 sources. But the status page work, and xiph.org still lists my station with up-to-date track information. IceCast displays all zeroes and no sources, and stopping, then starting server again crashes it. And check this: listeners can now see my status page from the outside, without me having changed any options. But IceCast has 0 sources... whatever!?! |
