I have a virtual server hosted by Strato running Plesk 8.2. In Plesk you can install RPM modules. When I point to the RPM file I download from the Icecast site, I get an error stating that "The uploaded file is not a supported module package".
Anybody familiar with installing Icecast on Plesk 8.2? |

without knowing what the message means it's hard to say, but I'm guessing it's because of the key signing aspects of rpm. Because it hasn't been built by the distributors of your system then it hasn't got their key on our rpm. Either check to see if they have done a rpm for the distribution or you could try to force an install or our rpm.

Ah ok, thanks a lot for your reply. I'll check with my hosting provider.
Is there any other way I can install Icecast on my server, other that with physical access to the machine? I do have Bash shell access, but since I'm quite the linux noob other than using it as a workstation, I don't know how I'd have to install it, if possible at all. Any help would be welcome |

You need root access to install an rpm which can be over ssh (man rpm). Check with the hosting provider or the distributer web site for details on their packages as I'm not familiar with Plesk.
