I searched the forums but didn't find anything on this so.... what about getting ices to work with mono ogg files? That way I could save about half of my space when posting these things.

Your posting would indicate that it does not work with mono ogg files. Can you explain what you are experiencing.

"not supported" to me does not equivocate to "not enabled". But just to be sure, I grepped the docs for this option, and it says:
Quote:

Downmix

Some streams want to reduce the bitrate further, reducing the number of channels used to just 1.

Sounds like a solution if I want to broadcast everything in 1 channel. Is this just a case of misleading documentation?

I would guess so. The message is probably a leftover from when it could not do downmixing. Add a report on bugs.xiph.org

I will do so, but just to answer the question....

If I set downmix to 1, then I will be able to play 1 and 2 channel files?

IIRC ices 2.0.1 doesn't allow for mixing incoming channels like that, generally a bad idea as most do stereo streams and feeding mono data tends to break the players as they can't change the soundcard settings.

I'm sure the branch work I did on ices2 (look on my web page) allowed for forcing a mono stream no matter what the input channels is. The xml layout is slightly different so watch for that.
