Tell the source client to not send an update. The only way to deny it with icecast is by changing the user/pass for the source and that only applies to non-ogg. That way metadata updates fail.
It's a feature that could be added via the admin interface but no one has requested such a feature. bugs.xiph.org

not really implemented yet, a workaround for non-ogg streams has already been specified, so I guess you meant an ogg stream. Add a bug report and we can add the feature.

not in 2.3.2, which is why I suggested the bugs.xiph.org site so that it won't be forgotten. The The thing is you need to be very clear on what the feature is. What you haven't said is how would icecast know the difference between a user updating the metadata on the xsl page and when it's updated from the source client.

When I get some doc updates done, feel free to get the trunk code and try it out and give me feedback. I'm getting over a cold so I want to make sure the wording is sensible
Tarballs on http://people.xiph.org/~brendan/snapshots/icecast and I've made a win32 build on my website.
