Hi,
I followed this tutorial in order to setup icecast with ices on a gentoo box.

Everything worked fine apart from the <background> option.
With the background option enabled and the init scripts, as mentioned on the tutorial, the ices/icecast plays the first track from the playlist and then it causes enormous memory leaks causing kernel to kill it! Probably something is going on during the startup process... I tried hard but I cannot find a solution to this.
Any help appreciated.

You well need to explain in more detail. Things like, what exactly has a memory leak, icecast or ices, what version is it etc, what appears in the log files when the problem starts?
