Hi,
I've set up my icecast server and ices on my linux box. I can access it through internet from PCs other than my work. When i try to access it from work, it says Proxy error: Connection refused: Remote server refused connection. Any ideas? I know there is filtering and proxy rules at my work place, but the error looks like my linux pc is refusing connection.

That is next to impossible for us to work out. If the response is quick then it's getting a deny response from somewhere but without knowing the layout, it's hard to say. The proxy may not be routing correctly or it may just deny requests of your LAN without even trying.

Karl,
I probably was not very clear there. I've my Icecast set up in my home pc which can be accessed through the internet through a dynamic ip address. (since it is for my own use i didnt bother to take a static ip from ISP) I can access my songs from my friend's home through internet by tying my ip address. But when i try accessing it from work, it complains about remote server refused connection. From the message, it looks like the remote server, which is my pc refusing connections, but it is not when tried from outside my work place. |

The question you have to ask yourself, what is different with connections from your workplace to connections from anywhere else. Can you access other ports on your system, will the work proxy allow port 8000 connections etc
