Hello, I have experience of building pc's on windows platform but no experience of linux based pc's or different types of server software.
I will be moving my radio station over to icecast soon & have been looking at different servers to rent. Which would be easiest for me to install on?
Fedora, Windows 2003 or Ubuntu. Baring in mind Im not familiar with linux platforms but I build pc's & have capacity to learn.
Which server software would you say Icecast runs best on?
I look forward to replies, thanks

They are all trivial to install on, but if you have any issue then the windows platform is not as well supported. Both Fedora and ubuntu have pre-built install packages but if you build from source then you will also need to install the development packages so that you can build.

So it depends on what you are aiming for really.

We're running under Windows 2003, having about 3800 listeners peak per day, only one single IceCast service serving them all, over a GBit connection.

Thanks for reply. I just want to click the install button & have it do its thing, so I think I will go with the linux option. And as yet the term 'build from source' has no meaning to me, I just googled it aswell Very Happy
