Icecast Streaming Media Server

Hi everyone,

I am a newby in icecast and i like to do a scheduled a playlist. Lets say i need playlist1 form 09:00 undtil 11:00 and playlist2 form 16:00 until 20:00.

How can i do tis? And is it possible with icecast or do i need a oter solution?

the playlist will be for the source client not icecast. You need to determine if your source client can switch playlists.

You haven't said what the problem is, so no answer is possible. If I were to assume that the source client is ices2 then the playlist can be switched automatically by move the new list into the place where ices2 checks. But as you have failed to specify which source client you are using then it's not possible to say in general.

ok mybe i have to give a little bit more informations.
I have to do a System which is playing music. This is the easy part. But, it has to play, lats say from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM Classic and from 15:00 until 19:00 PM Pop songs. So i think it is the easyest way to do it with a streaming server. At the moment there is no decision what to use for it. So if you tel me i have to take ics2 than i take it

Is it playing music via speakers (in a restaurant, eg), or is it serving music via the internet?

it is playing music via speakers and a little bit later it should serve the music over a internal network.

hi

i am creating such a system in a very rudimentary way

i have a php script that looks for xml files in folders named like this:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6

with each number representing:

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday

inside each folder there are files named like this:

0 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22

each one representing every other hour of the day

each file is a simple xml file that points to a folder where mp3 files are stored

10 djs upload playlists to the server through ftp, applying an alphabetical order to the files

every 2 hours cron executes the php script, that looks for the configuration file corresponding to this day and time, and generates a new playlist then sends a message to sc_trans so that it reload the playlist

the system runs ok, but as i said it is pretty rough

i am looking for some help to tidy up the system

If you have at least a minimal budget, you could get SpacialAudio's SAM Broadcaster and change up the clockwheel at a given interval. It's more of a source-client issue than one with IceCast.

well i am new at the forum
recently i was told about the liquidsoap (savonet) project that does exactly this : scheduling among streams, playlists and single files.
By the way does anyone know any stream hosting company that offers liquidsoap?
